Ist dir das schon einmal passiert? Du möchtest sprechen, aber du kannst es nicht. Deine Stimme ist sehr leise. Das nennt man heiser.Has that ever happened to you? You want to talk, but you cannot. Your voice is very quiet. This is called hoarse.

Wenn deine Stimme rau und tonlos klingt, dann bist du heiser. Und wenn du nur für eine kurze Zeit heiser warst, dann hattest du einen Frosch im Hals.When your voice sounds rough and toneless, then you’re hoarse. And if you were hoarse for a short time, then you had a frog in your throat.

Die Metapher ist ein bisschen ekelig, aber man kann es sich sehr gut vorstellen: Da ist ein Frosch im Hals und man kann nicht sprechen. Man hustet, man räuspert sich und dann kann man wieder gut sprechen.The metaphor is a bit disgusting, but you can imagine it very well: There’s a frog in your throat and you cannot speak.
