Vielleicht denkst du jetzt, wovon redet er? Ich versuche gerade, die deutsche Grammatik zu lernen — aber sie ist so schwer!You might be thinking, what is he talking about? I am trying to learn German grammar — but it is so hard!

Ich weiß, ich weiß. Man sagt, die deutsche Grammatik sei eine der schwersten im Vergleich mit anderen Sprachen.I know, I know. German grammar is said to be one of the hardest compared to other languages.

Es gibt viele verwirrende Regeln und Ausnahmen zu den Regeln. Manchmal scheint es so, als gäbe es mehr Ausnahmen als Fälle, wo die Regel zutrifft!There are a lot of confusing rules and exceptions to the rules. Sometimes it even seems like there are more exceptions to the rule than instances where it applies!

Und ich möchte gar nicht erst über die Fälle reden. Nominativ, Akkusativ, Dativ, Genitiv — wann benutzt man welches nochmal?And don’t even get me started on cases. Nominative, accusative, dative, genitive — where do you apply which again?

Du könntest auch genauso gut die komplizierten Regeln der Physik lernen…You might as well be studying all the intricate rules of physics…

Aber hier ist der Knüller: Büffeln Babies Grammatik? Oder um eine Metapher zu benutzen: Müssen Basketballspieler Physik studieren?But here is the scoop: Do babies cram grammar? Or to use a methaphor: Do basketballplayers have to study physics?

Nein! Sie lernen es intuitiv. Ich bin Deutscher und ich müsste ein bisschen recherchieren, bevor ich dir die Fälle erklären könnte. Jedoch benutze ich sie jeden Tag!No! They learn it intuitively. I am German and I would have to do a little bit of research to explain cases to you. Yet I use them every day!

Nun, ich bin Deutscher, also habe ich Deutsch als Baby gelernt. Niemand hat mir Grammatik beigebracht, und doch benutzte ich korrekte Grammatik als Kind.Well, I am a German native so I learned German as a baby. Nobody explained grammar to me, yet I used correct grammar as a child.

Ich wollte lernen! Ich war neugierig, was meine Eltern sagten. Ich wollte diese menschliche Verbindung und war interessiert in dem, was sie sagten, nicht wie sie es sagten.I wanted to learn! I was curious what my parents are saying. I wanted to have this human connection and was interested in what, not how they said it.

Es war ähnlich, als ich meine zweite Sprache gelernt habe. Ich habe viele Podcasts gehört, nur weil ich an den Themen interessiert war.It was similar when I learned my second language. I listened to a lot of podcasts, just because I was interested in the topics.

Ich lerne jetzt Italienisch mithilfe von YouTube Videos. Es ist mein Ziel, dir dieselbe Erfahrung zu geben.
